Communication Models & Media Theories
Understand the communication process and major models, including Lasswell, Shannon-Weaver, Schramm, Osgood, Newcomb, Gerbner and Westley-MacLean. Examine theories such as the spiral of silence, uses and gratifications, media hegemony, diffusion of innovations and media-effects models.
Global Communication, Media & Society
Explore globalization, cultural imperialism, international information flows, the McBride Commission and social media’s impact on developing societies. Analyse the media’s role in democracy, social change, public awareness and social representation.
Pakistani Media & Development Communication
Study the historical evolution of Pakistan’s press, television and radio, along with government–press relations, media freedom and institutional responsibility. Understand dominant and alternative development paradigms, localization, glocalization and social marketing.
Public Relations, Media Laws & Ethics
Learn the development and practice of public relations, including press releases, press notes and press conferences. Examine Pakistan’s media laws, PEMRA, the Press Council of Pakistan, defamation, codes of ethics, media freedom and self-regulation.
